Gorsley Community Shop is at the heart of our community, run for the benefit of the community and supported by a wonderful team of volunteers. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Manager to take the lead in running the shop day-to-day. This rewarding role includes overseeing  volunteers, managing stock and suppliers, maintaining excellent customer service, and ensuring smooth and efficient operations. 

The ideal candidate will be organised, approachable, and proactive, with strong communication skills and a passion for community life. Experience in retail management is desirable, but a willingness to learn and a commitment to the shop’s values are just as important.

   

The position is up to 13hrs per week part-time (Saturday working may be required).

Gorsley Community Shop is looking for a dedicated and trustworthy Postmaster to take responsibility for the management of our Post Office Local, which operates within the shop. 

This key role involves ensuring the smooth running of Post Office services, overseeing two Post Office Assistants, and managing the staff rota to ensure reliable cover at all times. The Postmaster will also be responsible for compliance with Post Office procedures, cash handling, record keeping, and maintaining high standards of customer service, accuracy, and security. While not always working alongside the assistants, the Postmaster will provide clear guidance, support, and oversight to the team. 

Previous Post Office or retail experience is an advantage, but strong organisational skills, integrity, and a commitment to serving the local community are essential.
